Plainview Hale County Crime Stoppers relies on cooperation among the police, media and community at large to provide a flow of information about crimes and criminals.  Crime Stoppers encourages residents of Hale County to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that inhibit community involvement: fear and apathy.

Crime Stoppers provides a telephone number to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies to fight against crime.

Calls are received at the Plainview Hale County Crime Stoppers tips line phone at its call center.  This phone is a stand-alone instrument that does not provide caller ID, and conversations are not recorded.  The Plainview Hale County Crime Stoppers call center completes the tip information form, and then passes the information to the proper law enforcement agency by guaranteeing a caller’s anonymity.  Plainview Hale County Crime Stoppers allows the caller to give information in a positive atmosphere without the prospect of retribution by offering cash rewards for information leading to indictment or arrests.  The program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information.  Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.
